On June 25, 2026, the Ono Pharma Foundation held its Annual Symposium at Paul Brest Hall, Stanford University, bringing together 168 participants from academia and industry for a full day of scientific exchange and discussion.
This year’s symposium, titled “The Evolution of Chemical Biology,” was held with Stanford Sarafan ChEM-H serving as co-host and showcased the breadth and continuing impact of chemical biology research.
The program featured seven Ono Initiative awardees, whose presentations reflected the expanding impact of chemical biology on basic biology, disease research, and therapeutic innovation. A highlight of the day was the keynote lecture by Laura Kiessling of MIT, “Tools for Exploring Glycan Recognition in Health and Disease.”
In addition to the oral presentations, 36 poster presentations provided an energetic forum for young scientists to share their latest findings, receive feedback, and explore new scientific connections. The poster sessions and networking reception fostered lively discussions across institutions and career stages.
The Ono Pharma Foundation sincerely thanks all speakers, poster presenters, participants, Scientific Advisory Board members, and the Stanford Sarafan ChEM-H team for their invaluable contributions to the success of this year’s symposium.
Through events such as the Annual Symposium, the Foundation remains committed to supporting innovative research and building a vibrant community that advances the future of chemical biology.
We look forward to continuing this momentum at the 2027 Ono Pharma Foundation Annual Symposium, a special event commemorating the Foundation’s 10th anniversary, which is planned for June 23–24 in the Boston/Cambridge area. Further details will be shared on our website as they become available.
